On Thursday, July 4, the Stand With Ukraine team attended the premiere of the documentary The Ukrainian Flame by Benjamin Montel and Antonin Boutinard Rouelle at the Majestic Bastille cinema in Paris.

This moving film follows the journey of young Ukrainian athletes—champions in gymnastics, fencing, and wrestling—on their path to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympics, despite the immense challenges posed by the ongoing war.

Amid Russian bombings and air raid alerts, these athletes train tirelessly to keep their dreams alive. Even as they take refuge in bomb shelters, endure widespread power outages, or await news from missing family members, their preparation continues relentlessly.

By capturing their daily lives, marked by intense training and the horrors of war, the documentary provides an intimate and universal perspective on Ukrainian society during conflict. The Ukrainian Flame delivers a profound lesson in humanity, highlighting the courage and resilience of the Ukrainian people.

A must-watch.

The documentary will air on Friday, July 12, at 11:10 PM on France 3 and will be available for replay on france.tv.
