The partnership, initiated by the organization Stand With Ukraine, between the French town of Sézanne in the Marne department in the Grand Est region and the Ukrainian municipality of Baryshivka in the Kyiv Oblast, is yielding results and illustrating international solidarity between France and Ukraine.
The “Mriya” extracurricular activities center in Baryshivka awarded a certificate of gratitude to Stand With Ukraine, the town of Sézanne, and its mayor, Sacha Hewak. This certificate honors the financial assistance that made it possible to carry out a vital project: the creation of rooms dedicated to the independence of students. These spaces are designed to offer children, especially those with disabilities or from internally displaced families, opportunities to participate in various educational and recreational activities.
The impact of this project is significant for the children, providing them with an environment where they can develop a sense of responsibility and active citizenship. This initiative aims to enhance students’ independence and integrate them further into community life, a crucial goal in the context of reconstruction and humanitarian support.
Last April, Stand With Ukraine had already visited Baryshivka as part of the #DesLumièresPourLHiver campaign to assess the impact of their support and discuss the next steps in their partnership. The visit allowed them to witness Baryshivka’s commitment to its young residents and refugees, as well as the efforts made toward reconstruction after the bombings.
This collaboration, initially focused on providing generators to ensure the electrical safety of schools, is now expanding to new projects. The children’s center in Baryshivka, which stands as a testament to the community’s resilience, is an inspiring example demonstrating that international efforts truly make a difference.
