SCANDAL AT THE OLYMPICS: Tony Estanguet, we need your help!

Russian taekwondo athlete Maksim Khramtsov qualified yesterday for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
However, he actively supports Putin and Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine. The Olympic Games are meant to celebrate peace—do we really want to invite individuals like him?

Khramtsov is affiliated with the Russian military, having received an honorary certificate from Russia’s Minister of Defense in 2022 and a medal for his “significant contribution to strengthening the prestige of the Russian army” from Sergey Shoigu, the Russian Defense Minister.

He has also openly expressed his support for Putin and the war in Ukraine on social media, in posts that have since been deleted to mislead the IOC and create a false impression of neutrality.

The IOC has established rules prohibiting the participation of Russian athletes who support the conflict in Ukraine or have ties to the military at the Paris 2024 Games. We demand that the International Olympic Committee uphold these commitments.

As long as the bombing of Ukraine continues, Russian and Belarusian athletes have no place at the Paris Olympics. We will not allow Russia to turn #Paris2024 into the Blood Games.

We call on the Olympic Committee to take action and protect the integrity of the Games. Together, let’s refuse to let Russia’s war politics taint the Olympic spirit.
