📊 French imports of Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG) more than doubled in the first half of 2024, despite the European Union’s efforts to reduce its energy dependence on Russia, and even as demand in France fell by 9%. Imports increased from 2 million m³ in the first half of 2023 to 4.4 million m³ during the same period in 2024. A reception was held at Paris City Hall to honor Ukrainian athletes participating in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The event was attended by the Mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, Ukrainian Minister of Youth and Sports Matvii Bidnyi, and the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine to France, Vadym Omelchenko.
