On the 3rd Anniversary of Russia’s Full-Scale Invasion, Municipal Libraries Across France Celebrate the Richness of Ukrainian Culture and Literature
From major cities to the smallest towns, libraries across France are coming together to showcase significant Ukrainian works translated into French.
Among them are the sharp and humorous narratives of Andrey Kurkov, the powerful and committed verses of Taras Shevchenko, a symbol of the fight for freedom, and the compelling writings of literary and feminist icon Lesia Ukrainka, alongside works by Serhiy Zhadan, Lina Kostenko, and poet Liubov Yakymchuk.
Throughout the centuries, Ukrainian writers have resisted oppression. Even today, Russia seeks to silence them. Among its victims is Viktoria Amelina, killed by a missile strike in Kramatorsk. Her book Looking at Women Looking at War, recently published in France, is part of our #YellowAndBluePages selection.
#YellowAndBluePages: A Tribute to Ukraine’s Cultural Resistance
Launched in partnership with the Association of Mayors of France and Presidents of Intermunicipalities and the Embassy of Ukraine in France, this initiative honors Ukraine’s enduring cultural resilience.
By enriching their libraries, towns and cities across France are affirming that Ukraine exists, resists, and that its cultural heritage will never be erased.
