🌍 Since February 2022, European shipyards have played a crucial role for Russia, despite sanctions. In France and Denmark, Damen Shiprepair and Fayard A/S shipyards have been servicing Russian LNG carrier fleets from the Yamal LNG project.
🚢 These vessels transport Russian liquefied natural gas to Europe, with 14 out of 15 ships having visited these shipyards for maintenance since the start of the war in Ukraine. This upkeep enables Russia to continue its gas exports at record levels.
⚓ European shipyards are strategically located along major trade routes, making operations more efficient and minimizing costs for operators.
🇪🇺 While these services comply with international sanctions, they highlight Europe’s continued involvement in supporting Russia’s energy industry.
❌ Stand With Ukraine calls on France and EU member states not only to impose a total embargo on Russian gas but also to cease all forms of support for this industry, which ultimately strengthens Russia’s war efforts in Ukraine.
