On January 17, 2023, the ECUJE (European Jewish Cultural and University Center) will host a special evening in support of the Ukrainian people. This event, organized in partnership with Stand With Ukraine and the George Gershwin Lodge of B’nai B’rith, will bring together leading figures to express the Jewish community’s solidarity with Ukraine as it endures the hardships of war.
The evening will feature two main themes:
🔹 The broader political stakes of the war in Ukraine.
🔹 The specific challenges faced by Jewish communities in Ukraine and Russia, both deeply affected by the conflict.
Among the distinguished guests are:
Vadym Omelchenko, Ambassador of Ukraine to France
Oleksandra Matviichuk, 2022 Nobel Peace Prize laureate and President of the Center for Civil Liberties (CCL)
Iryna Dmytrychyn, historian and expert on Ukraine
David Franck, President of the Council of French Nationals in Ukraine
They will share their insights and testimonies on the current situation.
Additionally, the evening will highlight and support the “Lights for Winter” campaign led by Stand With Ukraine. This initiative aims to fund the purchase of generators to help Ukrainians facing severe electricity shortages during the harsh winter months.
