As a powerful symbolic gesture of support for the Ukrainian people, the Eiffel Tower will be illuminated in blue and yellow on February 23 in solidarity with Ukraine. This initiative, led by the City of Paris and its mayor, Anne Hidalgo, marks the first anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
The French and Ukrainian capitals share a friendship and cooperation pact, signed in April 2022, aimed at strengthening ties between the two cities. This relationship has resulted in concrete actions, such as the welcoming of Ukrainian refugees in Paris, material aid, and moral support in Ukraine’s fight for freedom and independence against the Russian aggressor.
