As part of the Babylon Villeneuve project, we are delighted to invite you to a screening of the documentary “Starting from Scratch” at Cinéma Espace Saint-Michel, in the 5th arrondissement of Paris!
🎞️ Starting from Scratch is a series of nine documentaries directed by the renowned Ukrainian collective Babylon’13, shedding light on the reconstruction of Ukrainian communities affected by Russia’s war of aggression.
Through these powerful films, you will witness the moving stories of cities such as Maryinka, Kharkiv, Kamenka, and Nikopol. Residents are shown working tirelessly to rebuild their daily lives: repairing homes destroyed by Russian attacks, clearing debris, reinstalling windows and roofs, and even cleaning courtyards with their grandchildren after bombings. Some return to live in dangerous areas still littered with landmines. Others find creative ways to cope with trauma — like wounded soldiers who begin painting or creating graffiti on damaged walls.
Despite the hardships, the Ukrainian people refuse to give up. With courage and solidarity, they rebuild their lives and stand strong against the pain and destruction left by the Russian war of aggression.
