Don’t miss the documentary The Ukrainian Flame, airing tomorrow — Friday, July 12 at 11:10 PM on France 3 — and available for replay on France TV.
🔥 The Ukrainian Flame by Benjamin Montel and Antonin Boutinard Rouelle is a powerful film that follows the journey of young Ukrainian athletes — champions in gymnastics, fencing, wrestling, and more — as they strive to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, despite the overwhelming challenges imposed by war.
A journey filled with obstacles.
The Ukrainian Flame takes us deep into the lives of these athletes, who continue to train relentlessly under unimaginable conditions. Between Russian bombings, air raid alerts, power outages, and the constant need to take shelter underground, these young champions persevere — holding onto the dream of one day competing in the Olympic Games.
Volodymyr, Marya, Alina, and Iryna, aged between 20 and 30, are national champions in gymnastics, fencing, athletics, wrestling, and kayaking. After two years of war, their lives have been shattered by horror, and their Olympic paths derailed by human madness. Volodymyr lost a leg at the front and is now trying to qualify for the Paris Paralympics. Marya’s father is at the front and hasn’t returned in months. Alina lives in constant fear of the bombs that strike Mykolaiv daily. And Iryna, a survivor of the horrors in Irpin at the start of the war, is still struggling to recover from the trauma.
📺 Broadcast and replay available starting tomorrow on France TV.
A must-watch.
