Conference at the National Assembly: “Ukraine and Its Past – The Holodomor”

March 21, 2023 @ 08:00 - 17:00

On March 21, 2023, a conference titled “Ukraine and Its Past: The Holodomor” will be held at the National Assembly, organized by Members of Parliament Anne Genetet (Renaissance), Boris Vallaud (Socialist Party), Jean-Louis Bourlanges (MoDem), Valérie Rabault (Socialist Party), Cyrielle Chatelain (Europe Écologie Les Verts), and Benjamin Haddad (Renaissance), President of the France-Ukraine Friendship Group at the National Assembly.

This event, in the presence of the Ambassador of Ukraine to France, Vadym Omelchenko, and the association Stand With Ukraine, aims to raise awareness among the public and parliamentarians about the tragedy of the Holodomor. This orchestrated genocide of 1932-1933 led to the deaths of nearly six million victims due to a famine deliberately engineered by the Soviet Union under Stalin.

In anticipation of the March 28 vote on a resolution recognizing and condemning the Holodomor as a genocide, this conference will underscore the importance of acknowledging the recent history between Ukraine and Russia. Russia has long denied the genocide of 1932-1933, making international recognition crucial—especially in the current context of Russia’s war of aggression.
