After targeting Ukrainian civilians and destroying essential infrastructure during the holiday season, Putin continues his relentless daily assault on Ukraine, attacking its vital infrastructure—electricity, water, transportation, and services—and, above all, its people.
Today, Wednesday, January 8, the city of Zaporizhzhia was hit by bombs in a Russian-led attack, resulting in casualties and injuries.
“The Russians struck Zaporizhzhia with aerial bombs. It was a deliberate attack on the city,” said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on X, describing yet another tragedy for Ukrainian civilians.
While dozens of injuries have already been reported, the provisional death toll stands at 13, a number that could still rise. The president extended his condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims, condemning the cruelty of these strikes deliberately targeting civilian areas.
Zelensky reiterated the need for increased international support:
“Russia must be put under pressure to end its terrorism. The protection of lives in Ukraine must be supported.
Only strength can bring an end to such a war and ensure lasting peace.”
