On the occasion of the sad 2nd anniversary of the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Embassy of Ukraine in France, the City Hall of the 15th arrondissement and Stand With Ukraine present sculptures by Mykhailo Reva, a famous sculptor from Odesa.
The collection exhibited at the City Hall of the 15th arrondissement consists of war debris – shredded missile fragments, dented shell casings, twisted pieces of shrapnel – that bear witness to the war provoked by Russia in Ukraine.
Reva describes the construction of these works as:
“a puzzle made of horror and chaos”.
This installation brings together two tons of remnants of munitions and wreckage from Russian drone and missile strikes on Ukrainian cities and villages, which have been secured for artistic use: the equipment as material.
Reva’s art gives voice to the collective outrage over Russia’s attacks on Ukraine and especially Odesa, his hometown.
