In August 2023, a group of young Ukrainians had the chance to visit Paris and spend a few days away from the war.
After traveling across Europe to reach Paris, 21 Ukrainian children, along with their chaperones, explored the city as part of a partnership between the 15th arrondissement and the Pechersk district in Kyiv. Invited by the arrondissement’s mayor, Philippe Goujon, and with the support of Stand With Ukraine, these children enjoyed a stay filled with activities organized by the arrondissement’s teams. Highlights included visits to the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower, and the Holocaust Memorial, a movie screening, and participation in an Olympics-style event hosted by a local leisure center.
Hailing from Kyiv, these children continue to endure the horrors of war, as their city remains under regular bombardment by the Russian army since the start of the large-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022.
Throughout the summer, many Ukrainian children will spend a few weeks in France as part of partnerships between Ukrainian and French cities initiated by Stand With Ukraine, offering them moments of respite and unforgettable experiences.
