Voices of Ukrainian Refugees in France

Forced to flee their country and separated from their loved ones, these Ukrainian women have managed to find employment in France and integrate into their new communities.

We wanted to share the stories of these Ukrainian women who wish to express their gratitude to the French people and who eagerly look forward to returning to their homeland once the Russian aggression ends and Ukraine emerges victorious.

This film tells the story of five Ukrainian women refugees in France:

  • Iryna Cherniak, a general practitioner based in Flers. Originally from Brovary, near Kyiv, Iryna now works at the hospital in her host community.
  • Oksana Barshynova, Deputy Director of the National Art Museum of Ukraine in Kyiv, now a curator at the Musée d’Orsay in Paris. Oksana shares her appreciation for the warm welcome she received and her admiration for French art.
  • Natalia Isupova, an English teacher living in L’Étang-la-Ville. Natalia, who is in France with her daughters, is actively engaged in her host community.
  • Alisa Lytvak, a musician and choir conductor based in Reims. Alisa continues her work with French singers and fellow Ukrainian refugees.
  • Olha Babeshko, an accounting assistant living in Rouen. Originally from Kharkiv, Olha now works at Cerfrance Seine Normandie while raising her daughter in safety.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Olga Varenyk and Natalya Guzenko Boudier for producing this film.
