During the Mayors’ Congress held in mid-November in Paris, a Ukrainian delegation organized by Stand With Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cities4Cities, and the Association of French Mayors enabled several Ukrainian mayors to meet their French counterparts across various regions. Among these fruitful exchanges, Ms. Svitlana Spazheva, Mayor of Pokrovsk, visited Moret-Loing-et-Orvanne to meet with Mr. Dikran Zakeossian, the town’s mayor.

Accompanied by a representative from Cities4Cities, Ms. Spazheva began her visit with a meeting with Mr. Jochmans, Deputy Mayor of Veneux-Les Sablons. She explored the reconstruction site of the Veneux church, a project emblematic of the region’s heritage preservation efforts.

A convivial lunch followed, bringing together the mayors and several guests, including a representative of the Aide Médicale et Caritative France-Ukraine association and Ms. Alla Demydenko, a Ukrainian refugee residing in Moret-Loing-et-Orvanne. This moment of exchange strengthened ties between the elected officials and the local Ukrainian community, addressing various topics ranging from wartime reconstruction to solidarity initiatives between the two countries.

This meeting underscores the importance of partnerships established within the framework of Franco-Ukrainian collaboration and reflects the shared commitment to building enduring connections between French and Ukrainian cities in a spirit of cooperation and friendship.
