👏 Congratulations to Oleksandr Komarov! 👏

The 36-year-old Ukrainian athlete from Mariupol claimed Ukraine’s first gold medal at the 2024 Paralympic Games by winning the men’s 100m freestyle S5 final, setting a new Paralympic record!

🎉 He had already secured a bronze medal the day before in para swimming, adding to his impressive record of bronze and gold medals from Rio 2016.

This latest victory marks the sixth Paralympic medal for the Ukrainian delegation.

In an interview, Oleksandr Komarov spoke about the devastating impact of the war on preparations for the 2024 Paralympic Games and expressed his outrage over the inclusion of “neutral” athletes holding Russian passports.

A huge round of applause to him and his entire team for this incredible achievement! 💪🥇🌍 Â
