At the initiative of Ms. Isabelle Rome, Ambassador for Human Rights, and in partnership with the Ukrainian Institute in France and the Embassy of Ukraine in France, an event was held at the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs in tribute to Victoria Amelina and all Ukrainian women committed to freedom, justice, and peace.
The ceremony took place in the presence of Oleksandra Matviichuk, human rights and democracy lawyer and 2022 Nobel Peace Prize laureate, the Ambassador of Ukraine to France, Vadym Omelchenko, and many engaged public figures, including Iryna Dmytrychyn, Ukrainian historian and translator, Bernard-Henri Lévy, writer and filmmaker, and Caroline Fourest, author and journalist.

Everyone Can Contribute to Ukraine’s Cultural Resistance
In the face of Russia’s war of aggression and its policy of erasure, reading a Ukrainian author is already an act of solidarity.
Whether it's classical or contemporary literature, or if you’re looking to introduce Ukrainian culture to your children, there’s something for everyone. Every book read is a victory for Ukrainian identity and culture.

The aggressor must pay.
Today, more than €300 billion of Russian assets are frozen worldwide — including €209 billion in Europe.
These are public funds belonging to the Central Bank of Russia, immobilized in foreign financial institutions.
So far, only €3 billion, from the interest generated by these assets, has been allocated to Ukraine.
Meanwhile, the destruction caused by Russia’s war amounts to hundreds of billions of euros:
Civil infrastructure: roads, bridges, train stations, airports…
Essential buildings: housing, schools, hospitals, city halls…
Energy infrastructure: power plants, dams, electricity networks…
